Hormone Replacement Therapy Q & A

What is hormone replacement therapy?

Hormones are chemical messengers that regulate many of your biological functions. Women transitioning to the natural end of their childbearing years (menopause) experience a decline in reproductive hormones like estrogen and progesterone that can trigger a range of uncomfortable symptoms.

Hormone replacement therapy (HRT) uses supplemental hormones to restore balance in a woman’s natural hormone levels. Murry Medical offers hormone replacement therapy for women looking for relief from persistent menopause symptoms.

Dominique customizes an HRT care plan to your needs and continues to monitor your progress with treatment through an online telehealth platform.

When should I consider hormone replacement therapy?

Hormone replacement therapy can be beneficial for women in perimenopause, the transition period before their menstrual cycle stops for a consecutive 12 months.

During perimenopause, reproductive hormone levels begin to decline and can trigger symptoms like:

  • Hot flashes
  • Brain fog
  • Vaginal dryness
  • Mood swings
  • Night sweats
  • Low sex drive (libido)

Mental health issues like anxiety and depression can also develop due to hormone fluctuations. Symptoms common in perimenopause can also continue throughout menopause and after a your enter your postmenopausal years.

By rebalancing your natural hormone levels with supplemental hormones, you can achieve lasting relief from symptoms that interfere with your quality of life.

What can I expect from hormone replacement therapy?

Murry Medical offers comprehensive care for women who have moderate to severe menopause-related symptoms.

Dominique completes your initial health evaluation during a telehealth appointment. She reviews your personal and family medical history, your current health, and the types of symptoms you have and may request blood work to assess your hormone levels.

Supplemental hormones are available in different forms, including pills, patches, and creams. Dominique helps you choose the most appropriate delivery method and determines your dosage.

Many women find relief from hot flashes, vaginal irritation, and low libido in the weeks after starting HRT. Dominique continues to monitor your health to ensure treatment is working. She can also recommend medical weight loss, diet improvements, and other wellness strategies that support you on your menopause journey.
